"A lasting peace through the federation of Europe" is a translation of "Extrait du projet de paix perpétuelle de monsieur l'abbé de Saint-Pierre. Par J.J. Rousseau", followed by Rousseau's criticism of Saint Pierre's project, which was first published in the posthumous edition of Rousseau's Works, Geneva, 1782.
